(a) The Andover Chief of Police, the Andover Fire Chief, or the Andover Code Enforcement Officer is hereby authorized to either temporarily, or with the consent of the Governing Body, to permanently designate fire lanes on public or private property and to erect signs or to have curbs painted evidencing this designation.
(b) A curb painted red with words “Fire Lane” and “No Parking” painted in white on the red curb or a sign stating “Fire Lane” and “No Parking” placed along a curb, roadway, or other area, either permanently or temporarily shall designate fire lanes.
(c) Only official emergency vehicles or unmarked police cars may park adjacent to a curb designated as a Fire Lane.

Except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic, or in compliance with the law or direction of a police officer or a fire fighter, no person shall stand or park a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except momentarily to pick up or discharge a passenger or passengers whether on public or private property at or along a curb or other location designated as a fire lane. The violation of this section shall be deemed a traffic infraction punishable by a fine of $75.00.

The Police Department may immediately impound vehicles parked within fire lanes. The registered owner of any such vehicle so impounded, in addition to being assessed the fine as set forth within the foregoing section, shall be required to pay all costs associated with the towing and impoundment of such vehicle prior to the vehicle being released from impound by the Police Department.
